A person checks.

We would rather publish exactly how this works than wait to be asked. Here is who does what, at every step of a single application.

Your guide

How Second Wind works, start to finish

Ten minutes to read once, and you will know exactly what happens, where to look, and what we will ask of you. Nothing here needs a password.

You hand over the search

You fill in one form. We read your CV, ask what you want and what you will not take, and agree a weekly number of applications.

We do the applying

An Application Specialist chooses every role, tailors your CV to it, and applies in your name. A person checks every application before it goes.

You watch it happen

You get one private web link. It shows every application, where each one stands, and anything we need from you.

You turn up to interviews

Two working days before each interview we send a playbook: the role, why you fit, and the things we have promised not to claim on your behalf.

Step one

Signing up

Everything starts at the join form. It saves as you go, so you can stop and come back on any device.

What you will need

Your CV as a PDF or Word file, roughly fifteen minutes, and a rough idea of the salary you need.

We read your CV to pull out what is already written in it. We never invent experience, dates or achievements — not to clear a filter, not if you ask us to.

What we ask

Where you will travel to, what you will not take, your notice period, and your right to work in the UK. Your deal-breakers are hard vetoes, not preferences.

What we never ask for

No passwords. No two-factor or recovery codes. No bank details, National Insurance number, passport number or date of birth. If anything ever asks you for one of those, it is not us.

What happens next

A Lead Specialist reads your form, checks we can genuinely help, and either accepts you or tells you plainly why not. You will hear either way.

Ready to start?

The form is at secondwind.careers/start. It takes about fifteen minutes and saves as you go.

Step two

Your private link

You never get an account with us, and you never make a password. Instead you get one long, unguessable web address that is yours alone.

Bookmark it

It arrives by email once you are accepted. Save it to your phone's home screen and it behaves like an app.

Treat it like a key

Anyone holding the link can see your page. Do not post it anywhere public. If you think it has got out, email us and we will kill it and send a new one within the hour.

It is always current

There is no refresh button and no sync. The moment your Specialist changes something, your page changes. What you see is the real record.

It works everywhere

Phone, tablet, laptop, borrowed computer. No app to install, no login to remember.

Step three

Reading your dashboard

Everything on your page is grouped by the only thing that changes what happens next: how far an application has got.

They’ve come back to you

Someone at the employer has engaged — a reply, an interview, or an offer. This group sits at the top, because it is the only one that ever holds good news.

Sent — waiting to hear

Applied in your name and waiting to be read. Most applications live here for one to three weeks. Silence at this stage is normal, not a bad sign.

Being prepared

Still with us. Nothing has reached the employer. If we need something from you before it can go, it will say so.

Closed

Finished, one way or the other. We keep them so the record stays honest — including the ones that came to nothing.

The four numbers at the top

Applications sent, replies, interviews and offers. They are counted from stages actually reached, so a later rejection can never take back an interview you had.

Zero is an honest number. In the first fortnight it is also a normal one.

Opening one up

Tap any application to see the advert, the CV we sent, why we thought it fitted, and the full history with dates. Nothing is hidden from you.

Step four

The three things we ask of you

This is a done-for-you service, so the list is short. But when one of these appears, it is usually holding up an application.

Answer our questions

Employers ask things only you can answer — a start date, a salary expectation, why you left. They appear at the top of your page. Type the answer in and it reaches your Specialist straight away.

We will never write an answer about your life for you.

Tell us your news

If a recruiter rings you, or you get an interview or an offer through your own network, use the “Tell us what happened” button. It stops us applying somewhere you are already talking to.

Send us jobs you spot

Seen something you like? Paste the link on your page. We will screen it against your brief and either apply or tell you why we did not.

Step five

Your interview playbook

The moment an interview is booked, a countdown starts. Your playbook appears on your dashboard two working days before.

What is in it

What the role actually is, why we said you fit, the gaps they may probe, questions worth asking them, and the practical details — where, when, who, how long.

The DO NOT CLAIM list

Every playbook carries one. It is the list of things we have deliberately not claimed on your behalf, so you never walk into a room and get caught out by your own application.

It is not a script

It is a briefing. Read it the night before, read it again on the morning, then be yourself.

If the date moves

Tell us through your page or on WhatsApp and the playbook date moves with it.

Staying in touch

How we reach you, and how you reach us

WhatsApp

There is a button on your dashboard during our opening hours. It opens a message already filled in with your first name and reference code — never your private link.

Daily updates

Turn them on and your phone tells you when an application goes out or a reply lands. Turn them off in one tap on the same page. We will not badger you.

Email

Always hello@secondwind.careers. A person reads it.

Your reference code

Every Member has a short code like SW-A1B2C3. Quote that, not your link, whenever you contact us.

Straight answers

The questions everyone asks

Do you guarantee a job?

No. Hiring decisions belong to employers. Anyone guaranteeing an outcome they do not control is not being straight with you.

Will AI write my CV?

No. Software helps us match roles and pull out what your CV already says. A person writes and checks every word that goes out, and nothing is invented.

Do employers know it is you applying?

Yes. We apply as you, with your written consent, and we say so if an employer asks.

Can I pause?

Yes. Holiday, illness, a change of heart — tell us and we stop. Nothing goes out in your name while you are paused.

What if I get a job myself?

Brilliant. Tell us and we close the campaign down the same day.

Can I see everything you hold on me?

Yes. Ask and we will send you a copy of your whole record, and delete it if you would rather we did not keep it.

Something not covered here?

Email hello@secondwind.careers or read the fuller questions page. If we cannot help, we will say so.
